At The Holy Office of Poetic Memory, Miamians chose from a vibrant selection of flowers and foliage to build intentional arrangements rooted in remembrance. Greenhouse alum and 2025 O, Miami Poetry Festival project manager Xochitl C. Galvez led participants in the practice of ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement, while teaching artist Monica Asencio offered writing prompts inspired by Heaven, Self, and Earth. Each prompt inviting attendees to create poetry in reflection of their memories of their loved one. Together, they guided participants through this special workshop for caregivers and loved ones of those with terminal illnesses, hosted by Miami Light Project in April.
