You probably heard about the Bad Bunny lookalike contest… But Poetry, Paperbacks, & Piraguas was so much more than Benito buzz! Held at Roberto Clemente Park—in a predominantly Puerto Rican Miami neighborhood affectionately known as Little San Juan—the afternoon was a celebration of Puerto Rican culture in all its joy and sabor. 🇵🇷 The park itself is named after the first Latin American (and Puerto Rican) player inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. ⚾ La Mesa Boricua brought in Puerto Rican small businesses and cultural partners for a day full of art-making, roving music, and delicious food. We had cake from Lucile’s Puerto Rican Bakery, piraguas to cool off, and a band that played plenty of plena and, of course, Bad Bunny covers. 🐰🎶 @bookleggerslibrary rolled up with free paperbacks, @bakehouseartcomplex offered papermaking with Shauna Moulton, and @miamifreedomproject helped round out a day full of community and creativity.
