The DJDS Fruit Orchard 🌳
Maybe you were visiting the goats or chickens at the Farmette, and noticed recent upgrades to our fruit orchard. That space has taken shape since it began over a decade ago.
In the Spring of 2012, Denver Jewish Day School entered into a competition to win an apple orchard from the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. That summer, DJDS was notified that they had received enough votes to win the orchard, and apple trees were planted that Fall by parents and students. The orchard thrived under the expert care of Bob and Rachael (z’l) Goldman. More varieties of fruit trees were added and continue to bear fruit each year, to the delight of school families.
Recently, community philanthropist Michael Staenberg commissioned some fruit-shaped art sculptures: an apple, a pear, and a cherry. Longtime DJDS parent Dan Brooks helped add more trees.
