Numerous coalitions of the academic community — at UC Berkeley, statewide and globally — have banded together to express concern toward recent UC compliance with President Donald Trump’s administration and to urge that they not capitulate further.
A number of letters have been publicly issued and addressed to various UC officials. Multiple came in response to last week’s release of documents containing personally identifiable information of roughly 160 campus students, staff and faculty to the federal government.
Another came after learning that “secretive negotiations” had begun between the Trump administration and the UC Board of Regents earlier this month, said Amanda Goldstein, a UC Berkeley associate professor of English.
