Singing Everything opens at Marc Straus @marcstrausgallery on Sunday, March 12th! There will be an opening reception from 4-7 PM – we hope to see you there! The show’s title references Joy Harjo’s @joyharjoforreal poem ‘Singing Everything’ – a meditation remembering our connectedness to each other, the land, horizons, birth, love, death (moved), and heartbreak. It’s a meditation on remembering to remember. Central to the exhibition are three large panels featuring embroidered words from the Whitney Museum @whitneymuseum sewing circles. The project started with the Museum reaching out to their communities with the poem and asking, “What do you want to sing a song for in this moment?" Participants were encouraged to write answers and send it back to us as a photo. In my studio we worked to mimic the hand of each participant, translated into over a hundred panels of reclaimed wool blankets.
