A fisherman in New York had his hopes dashed earlier this month, when he learned that his certified state-record salmon wouldn’t qualify for the books, after all.⁠ ⁠ This wasn’t his fault, according to New York Upstate, who first reported the story. He caught the fish legally and followed all the proper steps to certify it, and for a short period, he was even told he had the record in the bag.
