In honor of
#NICUAwarenessMonth, we want to celebrate the incredible teams in our N/IICU who provide compassionate and exceptional care to our tiniest patients and their families. One of the many special therapies we offer is hydrotherapy.
Meet Cameron, our first intubated baby to successfully receive hydrotherapy as part of his physical therapy treatment in our N/IICU!
Hydrotherapy involves gently submerging the infant up to their chest in a tub of warm water, allowing therapists to guide a baby through various positions and movements. The water helps support babies’ movements, making it easier for them to build strength and feel calm.
For years, our team has used hydrotherapy to support developmental progress and recently expanded this approach to include babies who are intubated. Cameron, a chronic lung patient, was the first to benefit from this innovative treatment at CHOP. 💙
