🏨 The Deshler Hotel was a luxury stay for VIPs in Columbus ➡️ Before Broad & High was our landmark intersection, David and Betsy Deshler bought a property they would keep for 150 years. It was 1817, and they lived in a small home on the property. Decades later, their son removed his parents’ home to build the “Deshler Block” with offices and retailers. Their grandson went even further, announcing this 400-room hotel that opened in 1916. The name changed to “Deshler-Wallick” when they partnered with hoteliers from Ohio and New York, making improvements like a skyway that connected the building to the LeVeque Tower (AIU Citadel). Warren G. Harding, Henry Ford, Harry Truman, and others were known to visit the hotel. Eventually, the building boasted up to 600 rooms, welcoming famous guests and lavish parties.
