A man has been charged following a collision in Tullamarine that left a police dog and his handler with injuries last night.
It is alleged a white Mercedes Benz collided with the rear of a police vehicle on the Tullamarine Freeway about 10.45pm.
Rocco the German Shepherd was ejected from the police vehicle during the collision. The police officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was taken to hospital for observation, and is recovering at home alongside Rocco who was treated at the vet for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 19-year-old Oak Park man, stopped at the scene and was not injured. His passenger, a 21-year-old Meadow Heights woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Oak Park man has been charged with multiple offences including reckless conduct endanger life and unlicensed driving.
