Two of the joys of Billion Oyster Project are its army of volunteers and its education programme. The project’s founders have so far engaged more than 15,000 volunteers and 30,000 students as they look to fulfil their mission to restore one billion oysters to New York Harbor and to educate the local population about clean water and healthy marine life.
