Take a step back into #HendersonHistory with us as we spotlight Gordon McCaw, a prominent Henderson educator whose leadership shaped our school system. He began his career in 1943 at Pittman Basic Trailer Park School, where he served as both principal and janitor. McCaw later led Townsite Elementary and Henderson Junior High for 14 years before becoming the principal at Basic Elementary. In 1969, Basic Elementary was renamed Gordon McCaw Elementary School in his honor. Today, the school continues his legacy of education and innovation as a STEAM Academy, Henderson 5-Star School and home to the unique McCaw School of Mines.
