Shilla Hotel (shillahotels) is facing backlash after abruptly cancelling several weddings scheduled for early November.
The hotel told some couples the cancellations were “unavoidable due to a national event.” For couples who received this notice just 50 days before their big day, the news came as a huge shock.
Industry insiders suspect the cancellations are linked to the upcoming APEC Summit, which will be attended by global leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In Korea, Shilla Hotel weddings are considered extremely high-end — reservations typically need to be made at least a year in advance, and prime dates can be fully booked even two years ahead.
