A massive traditional goods flagship store is coming to Gyeongbokgung Palace (

The Cultural Heritage Administration (
@chlove_u) announced plans to turn a 1,000-pyeong (≈3,300㎡) space on the B2 level beneath the palace’s east parking lot into the “Gyeongbokgung Flagship Store,” combining cultural product shopping with a rest area.
Sales of cultural heritage goods have tripled in just four years — from about 4 billion KRW (~USD $2.90M) to 12 billion KRW (~USD $8.70M) — but retail space hasn’t kept up. With K-pop and even KDH boosting demand for traditional merch, the timing couldn’t be better.
Slated to open in 2027 with a total investment of 16.8 billion KRW (~USD $12.17M), the space will give visitors a place to shop, relax, and soak up Korean tradition in style. ✨
