Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, has suggested that trans women need a 'third space' in an interview with mumsnet. Mumsnet users were invited to ask Streeting questions in the interview, conducted on September 18th. When asked a question about trans people in NHS wards, toilets and changing areas, Streeting said: 'I think we've got to try and find a way to make sure that trans women are a space that is dignified and safe and inclusive for them, that doesn't impact on women's sex based rights and spaces…' The interviewer then asked: 'That sounds like third spaces?', to which Streeting responded: 'I think for trans women, yes, I think that is where we're looking.
