Disaster struck the Jamaican quartet of Ackeem Blake, Oblique Seville, Ryiem Forde, and Kishane Thompson at the World Athletics Championships as they failed in their attempt to make the men’s 4x100-metre final. The baton had passed from Blake to Seville and then to Forde safely enough, but with the Jamaicans in a position to challenge, the stick went to ground in an attempt to get it to silver medallist Thompson.
