We're excited to share a major milestone in the journey to restore to the Kennebec River. The Nature Conservancy has reached an agreement with Brookfield Renewable for the purchase of four dams on the Kennebec. This is the beginning of a long-term, collaborative effort to restore balance to the Kennebec—for the health of the river and people who live along it. This project can: 🐟 Support the return of endangered and threatened fish species like Atlantic salmon 🦞 Enhance the health of fisheries in the Gulf of Maine 🌊 Reduce the likelihood and severity of extreme flooding 🚣 Provide new economic opportunities for the region, including tourism, recreation, and more We're proud to work with TNC and other partners and local communities over the many years to come.
