Step back to 2005 at Six Flags Great Adventure – a season defined by record-breaking thrills, new family adventures, and major park changes.
The highlight of the year was the opening of Kingda Ka on May 21, 2005. Built by Intamin, this massive launch coaster shattered records as the world’s tallest (456 ft) and fastest (128 mph) roller coaster. It dominated the skyline and drew crowds from around the world.
2005 also introduced the Golden Kingdom expansion, featuring exotic theming, the Temple of the Tiger show, and the brand-new children’s area Balin’s Jungleland with play areas, rides, and family-friendly attractions. The Temple of the Tiger show was so popular that the park had to expand the arena just months after opening.
