We were honored to again have one of the best pianists in the world perform for the Canisius High School community in Scaccia Auditorium. Alexander Malofeev, a 23-year-old Russian virtuoso pianist, played on Monday at CHS, two days after on he performed Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 during the season-opening concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhans Music Hall. Malofeev – who came to international prominence in 2014 when he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at age 13 – has performed this year in Scotland, China and in St. Peter’s Square after meeting Pope Leo. His next stops are Portland, Ore., and Seattle before performing in Amsterdam, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and then China in February 2026.
