Over the past two weeks, leadership at UC Berkeley and the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, has come under fire following the disclosure that roughly 160 names of students and faculty had been shared with the federal government. UC Berkeley released the information following a directive from UCOP in accordance with an Office of Civil Rights antisemitism investigation. Within the UC administrative system, information regarding federal investigations has been shared on a “need-to-know” basis, said one UCOP staff member.
