A 61-year-old man was killed on the National Mall in Washington, DC, last week while delivery crews were unloading a racecar painted by Andy Warhol.
Officials said that a person had been pinned down by the car when a winch holding the vehicle gave way. Medics treated the critically injured person inside a box truck before pronouncing them dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Joseph Keegan of Parsippany, New Jersey, police told Hyperallergic.
The incident occurred while workers were delivering a 1979 BMW M1 painted by Warhol for the “Cars at the Capital” exhibition, an annual showcase of cars from the National Historic Vehicle Register.
