Nick Offerman has spoken about his gay love story as Bill in HBO’s The Last of Us.
In an interview with The Guardian, Offerman responded to praise for portraying a "mature gay relationship treated with such tenderness, seriousness and depth," confirming that the power of the story went to the very core of his being.
“If I succeed at that level, it’s because the writing is that exquisite,” Offerman said, calling the episode's script “a piece of wizardry.”
Offerman’s episode broke from the main storyline to tell the decades-long romance between his character, survivalist Bill, and Frank, played by Murray Bartlett.
Offerman explained that the success of Bill and Frank’s love came from its ability to answer questions about life itself.
