Grindr has denied claims its app went down during Charlie Kirk’s memorial service. The company issued a statement to Out that said: “As noted on Grindr’s status page, there were no outage reports on September 21.” Rumors began on social media the day after Charlie Kirk's memorial service after a post appeared to show a heat map of user-reported Grindr outages in Phoenix, Arizona – close to Glendale, where Kirk’s memorial was held. The post quickly garnered thousands of likes and reposts, likely gaining traction due to Kirk’s history of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and the fact that Grindr is the world's largest social networking app for gay, bi, trans, and queer people. However, astute social media users were quick to point out – along with fact-checking organisation Snopes – that Downdectector’s information is crowdsourced and any user can report an outage. So just because outages were reported, doesn’t mean they actually happened, which Grindr has now confirmed. #Grindr #CharlieKirk #US...
