Late last night, Elias David Garcia passed away peacefully in my arms. He was such a warrior, fighting every single day to live. He never spoke about dying—only about his future. He dreamed of college, of the family he would one day have, and even looked forward to being a grandpa. His hope and faith never wavered. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing his pain and suffering are over. He is now in heaven, whole and free, with two strong arms. Elias’s love, perseverance, hope and unshakable faith are a true testament to the life he lived.
