❗️Louisville Metro Police Department publicly crushed a 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat worth around $100,000. The SUV had been seized during street racing and takeover activity. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg personally pushed the button on the crusher during a press conference. Officials revealed the Hellcat was a “Frankenstein build” with stolen and mismatched parts from multiple vehicles. Because of this, it was legally and mechanically unfit to auction, reuse, or add to the police fleet. LMPD emphasized the destruction was a symbolic warning to street racers: seized cars may be destroyed. Since the city passed its street racing ordinance in 2022, police have seized 167 vehicles linked to racing and takeovers.
