The West Highland Way Diaries: Day 6 I think this was the day we truly felt like we were in the highlands. As the terrain got more rugged, towns were becoming smaller and scarcer on the route, each only having a small inn or hotel. The entirety of the day followed along a cobblestone road, flanked by endless meadows of heather and grassy peaks. We saw many new faces on the trail and some old ones too. And as we limped up to Kinghouse, we were greeted by a perfect creek to soak our achy feet, which had been pretty battered by this point. We cozied up in the bunkhouse for the night with more great Scottish food in our bellies. A simple, but lovely day.
