Visibility matters! Students & staff from the Trinity Centre for Deaf Studies have proudly raised the Deaf Flag here on campus to mark International Week of Deaf People 2025.
The turquoise blue on the flag represents the deaf community, Sign Language, pride, and unity, while the yellow represents the colour of light, an enlightened spirit, life, and “thriving in unison”.
John Bosco Conama, Director and Associate Professor in Deaf Studies here in Trinity, and Deaf Studies student and member of tddsignsoc Robyn, tell us just how important celebrating this week is.
Look out for the flag which will be flying high at The Pav until Sunday, 28 September, and check out World Federation of the Deaf (link in our bio) for more information on the origins and significance of International Week of Deaf People
