London Zoo’s biggest gorilla, silverback Kiburi, has undergone a CT scan after having stomach problems.⁣ ⁣ Vets said the 21-year-old western lowland gorilla received an initial all-clear and has returned to his group after the procedure.⁣ ⁣ Kiburi, who weighs 177 kg, had been monitored for recurrent gastrointestinal issues. He was anaesthetised via an injection to his upper arm after months of training to present the limb. A cardiology check was carried out in the Gorilla Kingdom dens with support from Royal Veterinary College specialists.⁣ ⁣ Six staff lifted Kiburi onto a gurney for a five-minute drive across the zoo to a mobile CT unit. The abdominal scan showed no obvious cause for concern, with NHS gastrointestinal clinicians advising on the imaging.⁣ ⁣ The zoo said Kiburi is back with his family group and will continue to be monitored.⁣ ⁣ #Zoo #Gorilla #London #ZSL
