Step back to the summer of 1990 when Dick Tracy, Starring in Diamond Double-Cross, debuted live on stage at Disneyland Park! This rare television commercial promotes the short-lived musical spectacular based on Disney’s Dick Tracy film. Performed at Videopolis Theatre from June through December 1990, the show combined singing, dancing, and dramatic action in true comic-strip style. The story followed the theft of the Balonian Diamond, bringing together Dick Tracy, Tess Trueheart, Breathless Mahoney, Big Boy, Flattop, and Mumbles in a colorful, stylized battle of good versus evil. With elaborate sets, vibrant costumes, and high-energy musical numbers (including “Calling Dick Tracy!”), the show was Disney’s big push to tie the movie into theme-park entertainment.
