Haiti, Freedom, and American Resistance 🇭🇹🗽 Welcome back to Break It Down! In this powerful follow-up, Dr. Leslie M. Alexander, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of History, uncovers a lesser-known chapter of history: the wave of activism across the United States in support of Haitian freedom. ✊🏾📰 After Haiti shattered the chains of slavery and declared Black sovereignty, Americans — especially Black communities — rallied in solidarity. From press campaigns to petition drives, people took to the streets demanding U.S. recognition of Haiti’s independence.
