The other day my husband drove my car and I noticed something funny… he needs the GPS voice guidance on. Meanwhile, mine is always OFF 🙅🏻‍♀️ As a DHH driver, I’ve trained myself to reduce all auditory distractions. My eyes are constantly scanning, and I rely on visual cues instead of sound. It’s such a small example, but it really shows how differently hearing and DHH people experience the world 🌍 👉 Parents, keep this in mind when talking to your DHH kids in the car, and especially when teaching them how to drive.
