Charging extra for hi-shine… yes or no?
The answer is - it depends.
These are the rules I personally run my business by, and it’s led to bigger profits, not smaller.
If I know a setup is going to look better if I add some hi-shine *just* to the black or chrome balloons, I’m going to do that as a courtesy to the client, no added cost.
But if I know I’ll need to douse an entire design in hi-shine to keep it looking good that’s when I have a conversation with the client and charge accordingly.
At the end of the day, hi-shine is an added expense for your business, and it’s also added labor for your setups. So if it’s REQUIRED in order for a setup to look good then it’s a good idea to charge. If it will simply enhance a client’s design without using too much product or extra time installing I consider it an investment for a future repeat client.
