The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is proud to celebrate the Michalec family and their legacy of dedication. The picture on the left was THEN—Captain Steve Michalec, who began his career in 1994 and has served our community for more than 31 years in a variety of assignments, and is currently assigned as the Sheriff’s Communications Center Manager. The picture on the right is NOW — with his son, Deputy Tanner Michalec, who joined VCSO in 2024 - nearly 30 years after his father, and is currently assigned at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
