EA employees have voiced their concerns over recent news that the games company has been sold to private investors. The company, which was sold for $50 billion, is being handed over to private investors including Saudia Arabia's PIF fund. The entire Electronic Arts brand and its catalogue, including The Sims franchise, is included in the deal. The Sims franchise has long been supportive and inclusive of the LGBTQIA+ community, with various updates celebrating Pride and updating content to include a range of gender and sexualities.
