Lorde is opening up about transformation, identity, and redefining womanhood. Speaking with Zan Rowe about her new album ‘Virgin,’ she revealed that the lyric “I take my knife and I cut the cord” from ‘Man of the Year’ symbolised more than the end of a relationship. “I see now that a few cords were cut,” she explained. The singer shared that she stopped policing her body after a period of restrictive eating, and also let go of a version of femininity she once clung to. “This cord cut between me and kind of femininity that I had been attached to for as long as I’d felt like a girl,” Lorde said. “I don’t know if I’d ever really felt like a woman before that point.” Lorde said she now feels like “a very different woman” and added: “I feel like anything is possible for me.” #Lorde #ManOfTheYear #genderidentity #femininity #LGBTQIA #music
