A tragic stampede broke out at Vijay’s political rally in Karur (Veluswamypuram) on Sept 27, 2025, killing at least 39 people, including women and children, and injuring dozens more.  The crowd had swelled beyond expectations, with many waiting for hours in intense heat without adequate amenities.  Vijay has pledged ₹20 lakh to each family of the deceased and ₹2 lakh to those injured.
