❗️Honda has unveiled the new Prelude GT500, a 650 hp rear-wheel-drive race car built for Japan’s 2026 Super GT season.
It will replace the short-lived Civic Type R-GT, which has struggled to consistently deliver wins since debuting in 2024.
The new Prelude is powered by the category-standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and sits on a lightweight carbon monocoque chassis.
The timing is key—2026 will see the end of the aerodynamic freeze in Super GT, allowing manufacturers greater freedom in car design.
Honda is betting that the Prelude’s coupe profile and fresh aero package will give it an edge against the Toyota GR Supra GT500 and Nissan Z GT500.
The car has already completed its first shakedown at Sportsland Sugo and is expected to debut competitively at the Okayama opener in April 2026.
