Question for Homeschool Families in Clayton County
I’m reaching out to see if any other homeschool families have dealt with this. Since disenrolling my son from Clayton County Schools, I’ve received multiple phone calls, truancy letters, and contacts from their staff, even though I filed the proper paperwork and followed all of Georgia’s homeschool requirements.
My son has level 2 autism, and during his time in the system he was mistreated and neglected to the point of a mental health crisis, his doctor literally took him out for a week! Teachers called him “slow.” He was physically assaulted. He was miserable. Out of all my kids, he was the only one who wanted to try public school, and he suffered for it. He tried so hard & it was so hard for me to sit by & watch him try to fit into a system that didn't accept him. I allow my children to choose their education style, I dont force home education on them. he tried & tried until he was emotionally defeated.
