With the U.S. government shut down, national parks and other federal public lands are under-resourced. Visitor centers, restrooms, and some campsites may be closed or canceled. If you visit public lands now, don’t just Leave No Trace, look for ways to Leave it Better. Pick up litter (safely), share good practices with others, and tread lightly to protect trails, wildlife, and cultural sites. Spread the word. If your campsite reservation is impacted, consider booking a campsite on private land nearby to lessen the burden on under-resourced parks.
