The World Athletics Championships kicked off this weekend in Tokyo. Thanks to National Lottery players, more than 1,000 elite athletes have been supported through the World Class Programme, giving them the vital funding to compete at the highest level. Beyond elite sport, National Lottery funding has invested £6 billion into grassroots sport, boosting grassroots athletics by upgrading facilities, supporting coaching, expanding participation and making the sport more accessible.
