UC Irvine scientists have discovered a completely new state of quantum matter that existed only in theory until now. The new material is remarkably resilient to radiation, and its potential energy efficiency could pave the way for: 🛰️ Radiation-proof computers for space exploration ⚡ Ultra-low power devices 🔬 Next-gen quantum technologies “If you want computers in space that are going to last, this is one way to make that happen,” says lead researcher Luis A. Jauregui, professor of physics & astronomy. 🏛️ Research funded by nsfgov and energy #Speakup4Science
