Legacy Week Faculty Spotlight: Trinette Singleton
This week, we are honored to feature Trinette Singleton, former Joffrey Ballet principal dancer whose career with the company spanned nearly two decades. Mentored by Robert Joffrey himself, Trinette was rose to national prominence in 1967 when he created Astarte on her, making her the first American dancer to appear on the cover of Time magazine.
As a performer, Trinette brought to life works by Gerald Arpino, Robert Joffrey, Kurt Jooss, Agnes de Mille, George Balanchine, Antony Tudor, and Twyla Tharp. Following her stage career, she served as Administrative Assistant to Robert Joffrey, Ballet Mistress, and later taught at the Joffrey Ballet School for eighteen years—passing on her knowledge and artistry to future generations.
