Legacy Week Faculty Spotlight: Douglas Martin This week, we are honored to feature Douglas Martin, former Joffrey Ballet principal dancer and one of the last to work extensively under founder Robert Joffrey himself. That rare mentorship gave him a foundation he has carried forward as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and artistic director. As a dancer, Douglas performed leading roles in works by Ashton, Arpino, Balanchine, Cranko, Forsythe, Joffrey, and many others, and was featured on PBS’s Dance in America as well as in the historic recreation of Nijinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps. Following his performance career, he became Artistic Director of American Repertory Ballet, choreographing acclaimed full-length productions and guiding countless dancers into professional careers.
