BACK SQUATTING SHOULDNT CAUSE ELBOW TENDONITIS
Elbow pain from back squatting for many is just accepted as par for the course. But that really shouldn’t be the case.
The reasons so many are running into this issue include:
Using a “low bar” position that is too low and having the bar resting primarily on the hands/arms
Having an elbow/hand position that leads to some of the load of the bar resting on the hands, not the upper back
Not having good enough mobility to achieve the rack position required
As a general rule of thumb, we want a grip and bar position that allows the wrist to be straight and for no part of your hand to be underneath the bar.
And yes, this means having your thumb OVER the bar in most cases. If your thumbs are what are holding a loaded barbell in place on your back, then there are bigger issues that need addressing there...
Remember, bench press is the only lift that actually matters. So let’s stop sacrificing performance there for the sake of a completel...
