Before Randy Savage became one of wrestling’s most iconic stars in the WWF, he made a name for himself across several territories — including a brief but fascinating run in Puerto Rico’s World Wrestling Council (WWC).
In 1984, Savage arrived in Puerto Rico and quickly became a top attraction in the region. On September 15, 1984, in Bayamón, he defeated WWE Hall of Famer Pedro Morales to capture the WWC North American Heavyweight Championship, a major title in the promotion before the Universal Championship era. His reign helped establish him as a credible main-event talent outside the continental U.S., showcasing his charisma and intensity to an entirely new audience.
