The 27% decline in international enrollment at Central Michigan University this semester will have an impact on the university's budget, said President Neil MacKinnon. Executive Director for the Financial Planning and Budgets Joe Garrison said he's working to determine what that impact looks like exactly.
“Obviously, fewer students, fewer semester credit hours, would mean fewer net tuition,” Garrison said. “There are some mitigating factors on the expense side of the equation. But that being said, the cost of not having those students outweighs the savings."
Garrison said the big question is whether this decline is an isolated incident this year or not.
