Blackout Time could have Lance Gasaway dreaming of another Derby run. The co-breeder and co-owner of 2024 kentuckyderby (G1) winner Mystik Dan is hoping lightning might strike twice—this time with a ticket to the breederscup at delmarracing.
The 2-year-old son of Not This Time broke his maiden impressively by 9 3/4 lengths Aug. 2 at ellisparkracing and now steps into deeper waters in Saturday’s Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at keeneland, a
#WinAndYoureIn for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
“We’re very excited about him,” Gasaway said. “He’s just such a professional; he just does everything so easy. The odd thing about it is this horse, Blackout Time, is eerily similar to Mystik Dan; his personality, his demeanor. He’s just calm.”
Blackout Time is trained by mcpeekracing, owned by Brookdale Racing, Lance, Gasaway, and Magdalena Racing, and will ridden by Cristian Torres.
