House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune held a news conference on Friday calling on Democrats in the Senate to vote for the continuing resolution. The continuing resolution would fund the government for 7 more weeks and end the government shutdown. Rep. Johnson said the president will only sign a clean CR and not the $1.5 trillion more the Democrats want, which he says pays for healthcare for illegal aliens. "We challenge them to tell us why they're not trying to give illegal aliens healthcare again when they put it in their own bill," he said.
