FBI Director Kash Patel has reportedly terminated a trainee agent for displaying a Pride flag on their desk last year while working in a California field office. The dismissal letter signed by Patel, a copy of which was obtained by MSNBC News, accused the trainee of exercising “poor judgment” by showing what was deemed an “inappropriate display of political signage.” The letter, dated October 1, stated that due to the trainee’s probationary status, their display of the flag violated workplace standards. Patel’s notice cited constitutional authority under Article II to justify the dismissal. At the time of dismissal, the trainee was in training at the FBI Academy in Quantico.
