Congresswoman Sarah McBride posted a video to her Instagram in which she humorously searches the U.S. Capitol building for her Republican colleagues as the U.S. government shutdown deadline loomed. “We’re barreling towards a shutdown. All my Democratic colleagues are here. I’m going to go search for my Republican colleagues,” McBride said, walking through empty committee rooms and even peeking behind curtains. McBride, who is the first transgender person elected to Congress, used the video to call out GOP inaction on funding talks. The US government is shutting down after Republicans and Democrats rejected one another's stopgap funding proposals.Healthcare was the principal sticking point for the two parties, but the result is all but the most critical federal services could completely wind down until a deal is done. #SarahMcBride #trumpadministration #republicans #transgender #uspolitics
