Des Moines Public Schools' former superintendent was not eligible to work in the United States when he assumed the district's top job, a federal investigator revealed in a federal complaint.
Ian Andre Roberts' work authorization in the United States expired in 2020, more than two years before he became the superintendent of Iowa's largest school district, according to a federal criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court this week.
The document charges Roberts with being an "illegal alien" in possession of firearms. It says he had four guns when he was arrested Sept. 26, including one he left in his car as he tried to flee.
